I began my journey into bison ranching in 2016 after meeting my wife, a third-generation rancher. Our commitment deepened in 2021 when we purchased heifers from Wigness and a bull from Bell Creek, integrating them into the Flying I herd. In 2022 we purchased more hiefers and bred cows from wigness. Today JT Bison has 30 cows. We now focus on selling DNA Pure Plains Breeding stock alongside our established cow/calf operation, managing 150 bison on 2 sections while also producing our winter feed. Balancing ranch life, we are also raising our three-year-old son who shares a passion for bison. Additionally, I work at the Estevan coal mine and am a volunteer firefighter for our community. I am honored to be part of the association and am excited about the future of the industry, aiming to develop programs for the next generation of bison ranchers.
